Health Tip #2

Filed under: Health Tips — Susan @ 3:46 pm

Here is a recipe for a great hand / foot scrub.  In a container fill it half full of Epsom Salts then add enough Mineral Oil to make it a coarse but almost runny consistency.  Add your favourite essential oil for fragrance (I use Lavender oil).  Rub this scrub in massage like motions all over your feet or hands.  Leave it on for as long as you are able to sit still and enjoy the fragrance.  Brush / Rub it off with a clean hand towel.  The softness of your hands / feet will amaze you.

February Blues – not!

Was it as sunny in your area yesterday as it was here?  The sun was so bright that I had to wear shades while Bailey and I went snowshoeing in the back forty.  Actually I should call it marching with snow shoes on.  It is quite a bit warmer now so the snow was kinda sticking and building up on the snow shoes so I had to really raised each leg with the weight of the snow – it was a great workout and felt fantastic.  Bailey is a little sore though . . . arthritis.

Again today the sun is big and bright.  I usually go X-country skiing on Sundays but I might just go snowshoeing again today in the back forty.  I am going to spray my snow shoes with a non-stick cooking coating to see if it keeps the snow from sticking to the snowshoes.  I will keep you posted!

Another 2008 favourite

Yesterday was housework day – oh yeah!!  The hood above my stove desperately needed to be degreased and any kind of environmentally friendly stuff I had tried just wasn’t cutting through the grease and grime.  I had recently purchased some ‘BAM’ kitchen cleaner and let me tell you that it is simply amazing how it worked! My range hood is now brand new clean.

Bell Express Vu and the English language

OK, I’m abloggin’ again. After having spent many hours on the phone trying to get technical support I came up with a great idea. I was gettting terribly frustrated talking to the people in India. They  can barely speak English and they are very scripted in what they say. So, next time I phoned I pressed 2 for French. I remembered they wanted my phone number and then press 1 for technical help. It’s the same whether it’s English or French. When I finally talked to someone I said” Est-que vous parles Anglais/” Yes I do was the answer. You see I figured they would be in Canada because Bell would never try and teach the people in India French. They barely taught them bad English. Secondly, 99% of the time the French Canadian will speak English as well.  They are also much more versed with their technical knowledge. So give it a try next time you’re in need of help and be sure to try and throw in a little French if you can. They appreciate the effort. This sort of idea works well with anybody using these phone centres as well as with Air Canada!

Viagra

My first blog……

In the tv commmercial for Viagara they mention that if after 4 hours you still have an erection you should call your doctor. Doctor, how about Guiness Book of World Records. Now let’s suggest the viagra was taken in the early evening, maybe 9:00 pm. The means you are to call your doctor at 1:00 am. First of all, doctors rarely can be reached at home and if they were I doub’t they’d want a call about this to wake them up. The good people at Viagara need to rethink their advice.

Health Tip #1

Filed under: Health Tips — Susan @ 2:50 pm

There has been a great deal of people getting that nasty cold that has been going around.  I have been surrounded by the germs 24/7 for a long time now.  Quite frankly I am quite tired of it all.  I have not gotten that illness yet (thank goodness).  I hope this doesn’t come back to bite me in the ass but I think my immune system is resisting because I take 50 mgs of Oregano Oil and 1,000 mgs of Vitamin C everyday. - that has got to be what is keeping me healthy.  Thought I would pass that on – hope it works for you too if you decide to go that route.

Tech Support

Filed under: Uncategorized — Susan @ 3:38 pm

Just wanted to throw a thank you to my personal tech support system.  Telus customers would be in tears knowing the fast and accurate service that I get.  Just this morning I noticed that our new website looked different than  it did yesterday so I email our personal tech support people and within a great time frame the support came through.  Thank you Lindsay.

The latest I heard about the tech support coming out of India (somewhere over there anyways) was someone calling a help line because they felt suicidial . . . the person on the other end got excited and asked if they knew how to drive a truck!

Favourite 2008 Stuff . . . so far

Filed under: Uncategorized — Susan @ 3:28 pm

First favourite thing so far for 2008 is our new Serta Perfect Sleep memory foam queen size bed.  I am love with our bed.  I wake up most days (that the alarm hasn’t gone off) well rested, pain free and happy.  Next time they go on sale and you need a new bed get that one!

Second favourite thing is that I have recently been using Burt’s Bees Honey lip balm and it is just the greatest!  It smells delicious (makes me smile) and makes my lips feel good.  Next time you need to purchase some lip balm that is the one you are gonna want.

Third favourite thing for 2008 in the new restaurant that we found.  Handsome decor, beautiful water and marina view and the food is very delicious and well presented.  The service needs a little polishing but hey three out of four is a good score.

Thank you

Thank you Lindsay and Jeff for this blog. I am happy to share it with your dad – he is my partner. Luckily the snow is sticky wet this weekend so I doubt if I am going to go snowshoeing or X-country skiing which means I should have lots of time to learn how to use and customize our blog. Pretty neat! Thanks!

Happy Birthday Susan!

cake.jpegJeff and I bought you your own website for your birthday this year…well almost your very own (maybe you can share with dad once and a while if you so choose).I know you didn’t think you needed a blog but I really think having your own website is a great idea.

Here are reasons why. You are super knowledgeable at gardening and exercise and an amazing cook just to name a few things off the top of my head. It would be a waste to keep all this expertise bottled up from the world. Now you can share it with friends, family and the whole world if you choose to. What a great way to have others benefit from your knowledge and experiences.

In addition, you can put pictures up, tell stories, post recipes, tell people about your latest yoga class ski trek or trip you went on.

It should help you stay in touch with your loved ones as well as good friends. Also, imagine meeting someone new and telling them “hey check out my website”. It serves as a great conversation topic from my experience!!!

The greatest thing about it, is that after a year if you find it’s not for you, you can chose not to renew it. But, if my prediction is right and you learn to love it, it’s really inexpensive to maintain.

We hope you like it. Also included in this gift is maintenance of the website and tech support.

Love Lindsay and Jeff.

p.s. We’ve posted a few pictures to help you get started.
