A few 2008 photos

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:33 pm

Just a few photos from this past winter. The indoor photos are of our good friend Joe and his lovely grandaughter, Rhianna. Rhianna and I hit it off right away and found that we have a lot in common. One example is we both love to put brewers yeast on our freshly popped corn (and we both admitted that sometimes we sneak a little bit of the great tasting brewers yeast on its own). The other photos are of our never ending winter . . . it is March 29 at this moment (my dear friend Cathy’s 52 birthday) and there is a snow blizzard going on. I have a tentative date to go on a snow shoe tomorrow . . . huh? I thought it was spring now!

Helicopter traffic watching

Why do TV stations bother with helicopters watching and reporting on traffic. Are people watching this information and then rerouting themselves around these reports. OK, maybe in the morning it may be of some value to know what’s going on but surely nobody is listenening on the drive home. It seems to me the only value at all is on how quickly the reporter can recite a commercial plug for some local company. Seems a huge waste of energy to me. Certainly not green.

Snow Shoeing in March

Filed under: Exercise — Susan @ 7:41 am

What a beautiful day it was yesterday – March 7th.  The sun was big and bright and warm.  We set out for a snow shoe with minimal clothing on since we knew that we would be working up some personal body heat.  Half an hour in too the hike we ended up going down to just our one layer next to our skin and continued on for another hour hike.  Maybe I should call it a hike/march as a lot of snow was gathering on my snow shoes which caused them to way a least 3 pounds each.  Feeling good today with all that exercise and vitamin D that I got yesterday.  Nancy Greene Lake Park is where we hiked – highly reccomend it.  Apparently it is a fine place to picnic and swim in the summer – almost a weedless lake and white sand beach!

Another fine new favourite thing

I just purchased a small George Foreman grill.  Love it, Love it, Love it!  Everything I cooked on it turned out perfect!  Just follow the instructions that come with the grill for whatever you are grilling and it should turn out perfect.  We a going to have Wild, Sockeye Salmon Steaks done on it tonight – can hardly wait!
