Wheel Chair Ramp

Filed under: Family — Susan @ 4:43 pm

What a great guy Bob is.  He built a wheel chair ramp for Beasley today.    It is just fine ramp and Bob put railings on it too so Beasley won’t fall off the side of the ramp and hurt or embarrass herself.  Beasley is our very senior dog and has been having a few problems maneuvering the steps on our deck to get to her favourite spot to do her business . . . we were quite concerned that she was going to do a face plant any day now.  She has been up and down the ramp a couple of times and is completely comfortable with it.  Bailey, our younger senior dog, thinks that it is just another apparatus for her to jump about (kinda like a jungle gym for kids).  Tomorrow we will go into town and get some outdoor carpeting to make it a little bit more cosmetically friendly with the rest of the house and of course make it even easier for Beasley to use.  Thanks Bob!

Sleeping

Filed under: Uncategorized — Susan @ 7:52 am

Wow!  I had forgotten what a good nights sleep feels like.  This morning is the first time in such a long, long time that I actually felt like I got enough sleep – eight hours.  I feel rejuvenated!  I wonder if it was the root canal that I had done yesterday afternoon or the Advil & Brandy that I had before I went to bed – whatever – I feel good!

I have the day off to recoup from my root canal – it was advised by anyone that I know that had a root canal done before (by my dentist too).   The right side of my mouth is a bit tender and oddly enough my right ear feels weird also – the freezing I guess.  I am going to take Bailey for a run today and there is a new workout class starting this evening that I am going to partake in – it is called “Cardio Tone – The Fat Blaster” – holy smokes that could be scary!  Deep kitchen cleaning in between the exercising.

Summer is Here

Filed under: Gardening — Susan @ 5:54 pm

Well once again we have had a super short spring and it is now summer – at least is was in my backyard today – 83 degrees F and it is suppose to be the same tomorrow.  I got some vegetable seeds planted (spinach, chard, lettuce and radishes) and more raking done.  Bob put up the umbrella clothes line and I was able to hang up a couple of loads of laundry (love that!).  Last year it was the exact same weather at this time (and it was Easter weekend).  It will probably go super cold again in June (it always does) but how nice right now!  I look out my window at this moment and the mountains still have a lot of snow on them but down here it is Shorts and a Tank top.  Tomorrow I have a choice of going snowshoeing at Nancy Green Summit or walking/hiking over in Glade – Hummm – what to do – grasp the finale of winter or jump into summer?

P.S.  Fiddle Head picking starts in two weeks!!!

Gardening Gloves Tips

Filed under: Gardening — Susan @ 6:02 pm

I bought some great gardening gloves last fall knowing that as soon as I could get outside and do whatever needed to be done, I would have some new gloves to start up with.  It was so nice today to go to my garden out building to get my garden gloves and first of all know exactly where the gloves were and second of all being brand new – not some old crusty gloves with holes and dirt in the finger tips.  That is the first tip – treat your self to some nice garden gloves in the late summer or even late fall (they are ususally on sale) to start out with in the new spring.

The second tip is the gloves that I got were Atlas Grip Yard Work.  Great gloves $4.99 last fall.

I am hoping that with a couple of bandaids and these great gloves I can finish up poop scooping

Poop Scooping

Filed under: Gardening — Susan @ 5:51 pm

The sun was shining nicely today.  All the snow (and there was a heck of a lot of it too) is just about gone.  Our yard (it is a big one) has been like a mine field of doggie doo.  You could not walk without watching every step.  Yes, I was cleaning up through out the winter but it snowed a lot so a lot of the poop got hidden.  I asked Bob to please pick-up a good rake on his way home from work.  He bought a real beaut – a nice cushioned handle and a big plastic fan rake (Yard Works Lawn Rake).  It made the raking of the aged doggie poop and left over Willow leaves and other natural debrie a lot easier.  So two hours and 45 minutes later, six large wheel barrel fulls and two good size blisters later the back part of our yard looks lovely!  Now I only have the two sides of the yard and the front . . . and believe me the doggies are not particular about where they leave their signature.  If my hands can handle it – remember, I have some nasty blisters right now – then I will try to get it done.  I will keep you posted maybe even post a photo!

Pricing

I often wonder what motivates people who are trying to sell something. They put an ad in the paper and fail to list the selling price. Are they lonely and want people to phone just to inquire about the price. Perhaps, they don’t know what to sell it for and are afraid to name a price wanting you to put it an offer, maybe it’ll be a really good offer. I’ll never know because I won’t call to find out what the price is.
