Florida

Well Bob and I have been to Florida and back now. It was a fun trip! We went to a Blue Jays game, Shuffled, Played Euchre with at the club house with the retirees, went to the beach, went to Tarpon Springs and even hosted a BBQ. I was also nice to spend some time with my parents.
It could be a good life to retire in Florida and own your own residence but it is way out of mine and Bob’s financial league. I am not even sure if I would want to have the same place to go to year after year. I kinda like the idea of exploring many different venues.

Retirement thoughts, Blog 1

Filed under: Retirement — Bob @ 11:28 pm

OK, so I’ve decided to keep a running dialogue of my retirement thoughts. It’s really for my benefit. I’d like to keep this for reference in a few years to document mine and Susie’s thoughts, our actions and ultimately where we end up. A bit of history for us, and maybe of some benefit for others going through the thought process.
Here’s today’s facts:
47 months until I’m eligible for full pension. Gotta live in the meantime, we’ve planned 3 vacations for this year
We’re going to buy a house in Dudedin when we retire and are about to commit to that. Dunedin is located west of Tampa Bay near Clearwater Beach. It’s on the Gulf side and very close to the water. It’s also home of the Toronto Blues Jays spring training. I could ride a bike to an afternoon game and sit and have a hot dog and a beer and watch a ballgame in the sun. We’ve been there before and both loved it. We’ll go there again in April and make sure that’s what we want to get into. I need to consider how I will manage with people living beside me instead of wildlife.
I need to get the fields’ together. 4 acres with organic certifiation.
Sell this and buy a cottge in Ontario. I’ll need 2 acres, 2 bathrooms, a dock, and something Susan can walk into town in 20 minutes. That’s why I’m starting this retirement blog.
Leaving here will be a bitch.
